27 May 2024Fondazione Cirulli reopens to the public with the exhibition Le donne di Kabul. Nello sguardo del fotografo Pino Settanni. The selection of 13 large-format photographs that make up the exhibition are part of a larger photographic campaign that the Roman photographer carried out in the early 2000s when he was in Afghanistan on behalf of the Italian Army.
The photographs, printed by Settanni in his studio in Via Ripetta, were digitally processed and almost recreated. The pixels used as slashes of color expand the female figures in the space like they are losing their boundaries, becoming one with the background. And they demand to be looked at carefully.
The exhibition is part of the exhibition project Animated Archive which suggest thoughts on Italian creativity and know-how in the last century starting from the collection of Fondazione Cirulli.
